Wet Floor Sign Usage
Wet floor signs are used to prevent accidents while floors are wet. Wet floor signs should be used any time a floor is wet, including after the carpet is cleaned. If there is doubt, use it.
Always place wet floor signs in well-visible areas to warn others that the floor is wet. Wet floor signs should be placed outside all entrances to a room or area that is wet, rather than inside that same room or area. This warns building occupants before they step onto the wet floor.
Slips and falls are the leading non-vehicular cause of death in public places. (September 2005 issue of Occupational Health & Safety)
Be sure to leave the wet floor sign out until the floor is completely dry. Removing the sign too quickly exposes building occupants to slips and falls.
Wet carpet can be slippery too.
