Don Aslett is the founder of and a major stockholder in Varsity Facility Services. As well as serving on the Board of Directors, Don advises Varsity’s leadership on upholding and sustaining Varsity’s image within the industry. He has led the charge on developing and maintaining Varsity’s rich history. Don actively shares Varsity’s marketing content and engages both prospective and current customers, driving relationships that are beneficial for both Varsity and the customer.
Don has received national recognition as an innovator in the cleaning industry. He has consulted Fortune 500 companies, developing cleaning and low-maintenance architectural specifications. He is a prolific writer, having authored over 30 books related to the Facility Services Industry and multiple training manuals, and has been featured in such national publications as Family Circle, Woman’s Day and People Magazine. Don is also a dynamic, engaging public speaker. In addition to an active speaking circuit, Don has appeared more than 6,000 times on television, including Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, Home on ABC, Home Matters with Susan Powell on the Discovery Channel, Our Home on Lifetime Television, Smart Solutions on Home & Garden Television and three appearances on Oprah. His leadership in the industry has earned him the title, “America’s #1 Cleaning Expert.”
Don is a passionate champion of sustainable buildings. Most recently, he received national acclaim for the “Don Aslett Museum of Clean,” a 70,000 square foot green building designed to LEED-NB (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum standards. The Museum of Clean exhibits and promotes the history, science, technology and standards of the cleaning industry over the course of history.
In addition to Varsity, Don has founded and owns multiple businesses, including: Don Aslett’s Cleaning Center, a janitorial supply company for residential and commercial cleaning; Marsh Creek Press, Don’s publishing and speaking engagement company; Live-Right Solutions, a company that designs products that improve productivity and home innovations; and recently, the Museum of Clean.
Prior to founding Varsity in 1957, Don established the College Clean Up Team and ran an 80-acre farm. He received a BA from Idaho State University and a teaching certificate in debate.
Don is actively involved in the community. He has led large-scale community service projects, been a life-long Scouter and is a recent inductee into the Idaho Boy Scouts of America’s Hall of Fame. Don received Idaho’s “Business Leader of the Year” award in 1993.
Don’s passion and life’s work is selling the value of clean to the world through print, media, business and, most recently, his “Museum of Clean.”
