Nate Long | General Counsel | Varsity Facility Services
Nathan R. Long is Varsity’s Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel reporting directly to the CEO, Eric Luke. In his role, Nathan oversees all of Varsity’s contractual agreements, and provides legal consultations and interpretations to Varsity’s management teams. He reviews and directs union negotiations and provides legal counsel for legislation that affects Varsity’s business. Nathan serves on the Board of Directors as the corporate secretary. In his function, Nathan also oversees and directs Varsity’s Human Resource Department, Risk Management Department, and Legal Department.
Over his career, Nathan has favorably resolved complex litigation actions on behalf of the company as well as successfully litigated a wide variety of claims and arbitration matters. He has created form contracts and subcontracts and has trained HR personnel how to conduct internal complaint investigations.
Prior to his role at Varsity, Nathan was staff attorney for Chief Magistrate Judge Larry M. Boyle of US Courts, District of Idaho, and was an attorney with the Boise office of the Denver-based regional law firm of Holland & Hart. Nathan practices at EchoHawk Law Offices focusing civil litigation matters representing business that included KeyBank, U.S. Bank, CitiFinancial, Allied Waste Industries, Inc. and DirectTV, Inc.
He has a B.A. in Political Science (1994) from Idaho State University, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Idaho College of Law and is a 1997 graduate of the University of Idaho, Magna Cum Laude.
Nathan is licensed to practice in Idaho State Courts, including Idaho Supreme Court as well as United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit Court.
Nathan enjoys spending time with family, camping, golfing.
